Gretha Tuls

Bassoon,

Gretha Tuls

Gretha is a versatile and dedicated bassoonist with a strong commitment to social projects. She has a passion for performing in ensembles, allowing her to play a wide variety of styles and present her instrument in unique ways.

Her passion for social projects and appreciation for cultural diversity took her to Congo and Uganda, where she volunteered as a music teacher. Additionally, she has worked as a performing and teaching musician in Sweden, Germany, and for a long time in England.

The cultural diversity in the programs of the Nederlands Blazers Ensemble (NBE) particularly appeals to her. She found the NBE tour to Georgia, with its unique local singing tradition, very inspiring. The concerts for Peace Day, where she performs with refugees, are also close to her heart.

In addition to her work with the NBE, Gretha plays with the Residentie Orkest, where she enjoys the orchestral repertoire and the orchestra’s social values, such as education and outreach.

Besides playing the bassoon, Gretha also studied psychology. In her free time, she volunteers with the Kindertelefoon and bi+Nederland. She enjoys hiking, yoga, mindfulness meditation, and in the winter, she sometimes knits something beautiful to keep warm.
