jongNBE – Waldesruhe and a Requiem

photo:Foppe Schut

At the Cello Biennale, jongNBE will perform ‘Waldesruhe and a Requiem’ together with three young cellists from the prestigious Kronberg Academy. In the Requiem by the Czech cellist and composer David Popper, they will showcase their lyrical side.

Antonín Dvořák composed Waldesruhe and Rondo, filled with Bohemian and Slavic elements, for his chamber music partner Hanuš Wihan, who also inspired him to compose his cello concerto. In the Siete Canciones Populares, the folk music is even more directly audible and recognisable. These popular songs have been arranged for all possible instruments, but never before for cello with wind instruments. The Argentine-German cellist and composer Manuel Lipstein will perform his own new concertino with jongNBE.
