In Hogere Sferen – Bach, Sufi & Pärt (In Higher Realms)

As Sufism encourages unity and harmony, and connects Eastern and Western ideologies, in the program In Hogere Sferen – Bach, Sufi & Pärt (In Higher Realms) traditional Persian music, Johann Sebastian Bach, and Arvo Pärt find and embrace each other.

Together with Iranian singer Haleh Seyfizadeh and Iranian tär player Ali Ghamsari, the Dutch Wind Ensemble presents an intriguing exploration of the connection between Bach, Sufism, and the contemporary sounds of Arvo Pärt. In doing so, Pärt’s minimalist approach adds a contemporary nuance to the symbiosis of traditional Persian music and the masterpieces of Johann Sebastian Bach.

Based on an original idea by Bart Schneemann.

Prior to each concert, an introduction to the performance is provided. The introduction is free, but for some venues, reservations may be required (see theater websites for more information).
