December 2025 – Since 1973, the NBE has been kicking off the new year in festive style with a grand musical celebration from the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. Since 1995, the New Year’s Concert has also been broadcast on television, first by VPRO and from 2004 by VARA/BNNVARA. Every year, with great enthusiasm and a sense of wonder, we bring together music and musicians from all over the world. The connection we feel with one another gives hope for a beautiful future, and there is no finer way to begin the year.
For many of our young composers, this concert is the very moment they decided to dedicate their lives to music and to carry forward the message of connection. The added brilliance that television brings to the concert and to these young composers is indispensable.
