December 2025 – On Sunday 14 December, jongNBE will perform at the Open Hof in Kampen. Since November 2024, the Uzbek Babayants family (father, mother and their four children) has been staying there as they face possible deportation. To protect them, the community has been holding a continuous church service for more than a year — day and night, supported by dozens of volunteers.

Together with Esseline van de Sande, jongNBE will present a programme built around the theme “The other is you.” With music from around the world — and instrumentalists from different countries — they create connection with each other and with the audience.

The theme “The other is you” is inspired by the work and life of Esseline van de Sande. She lived and worked for many years in Syria, Jordan and Lebanon, made a kayak journey along the Euphrates, has led the foundation De Stadscoalitie for ten years, and founded the Tarab Choir together with conductor and nai player Majed Sarai Edin — at the invitation of the NBE. She has also been running a weekly “breathing space” consultation at the Rotterdam emergency shelter for five years, where she meets new citizens from all over the world.

Wednesday 10 December is Human Rights Day. Kerkasiel Kampen invites everyone to write a card for the Babayants family — a wish, a greeting, a small ray of light.

Address for cards:
