Music was always present for Louis as he grew up in New Zealand, with a violin teacher as a mother and surrounded by a warm musical community.
He developed a curiosity for music early on, beginning with the violin (naturally), then exploring a bit of jazz violin, saxophone and composition as a teen and eventually arriving at the double bass, where he found his calling.
This calling ultimately brought him to the Netherlands where he studied, absorbing the rich musical environment and exploring the ever-growing possibilities here. This continues today within the NBE and his job with the Radio Filharmonisch Orkest.
