Sinan Arat

Ney,

Sinan Arat

Sinan Arat is a ney (reed flute) player and singer. He was born in Erzincan, Turkey, and studied ney at the Classical Ottoman Music Conservatory in Izmir. He earned his master’s degree at Codarts Rotterdam under the guidance of the legendary bansuri master Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia and ney master Kudsi Erguner.

Since his encounter with the mystical ney flute, he has been expressing his sound through various approaches rooted in Anatolian folk music, Ottoman and Indian classical music, as well as in fusion and experimental forms. He believes that music is an invisible bridge made of breath, connecting us all and creating a unique perspective on life and love. It is a bridge from stone to human, from the heart to the cosmos, from silence to the big bang, from multiplicity to unity.
