About the NBE

The Netherlands Wind Ensemble (NBE) is a group of musical adventurers who constantly explore the boundaries of music and performance, with the theatrical element playing a crucial role. Always on the lookout for surprising collaborations with musicians from diverse cultures and unique combinations with other disciplines, the NBE creates innovative programmes that surprise, move and challenge.

Social engagement is a high priority: the NBE regularly makes music for and with people in vulnerable positions and brings live music to places where it is rarely heard. As a cultural inspirer and talent developer, the NBE is committed to education: from introducing people to music to coaching young top talent. The essence of this is making music yourself, in our composition competition or as a player in jongNBE (regional). In this way, the NBE is working on the audience of the future and the musicians of tomorrow.

About NBE

New Year’s Concert 2026

The Young Netherlands Wind Ensemble, or jongNBE for short, is an ensemble of talented young musicians from Dutch conservatories, some of whom have already graduated, while others are still in the middle of their studies. The ensemble consists of 10 musicians (flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, horn, trumpet, saxophone, (bass) trombone, percussion and double bass/bass guitar) and is coached by experienced musicians from the NBE. They can be part of jongNBE for two years. Playing in the jongNBE offers young musicians a fantastic learning experience in ensemble playing, programming and presentation. The jongNBE is the breeding ground for the Netherlands Wind Ensemble.
