The Dutch Wind Ensemble (NBE) and Duda Paiva Company join forces once again in The Forest’s Breath, an urgent theatrical concert performance created in collaboration with the Kamayurá community deep in the Amazon. Together with artist and researcher Andreia Duarte, who lived with the Kamayurá for many years, they travelled to the Amazon and immersed themselves in the life of this Indigenous community.
Inspired by their worldview and the music of Heitor Villa-Lobos, the performance weaves together live music, movement and puppetry into a ritual of listening. The project recognises Indigenous peoples as guardians of the Amazon and carriers of invaluable knowledge. A meditative and physical experience, rooted in ethical exchange and mutual consent, told through foam, breath and sound.
