“An image of Ireland without the sweet Celtic wrapping, an ancient, hard Ireland, a kind of musical archaeology”
A programme by the Nederlands Blazers Ensemble (Netherlands Wind Ensemble) with new and traditional Irish music centred around the Irish electro-acoustic composer Roger Doyle.
Hearing the composition Under the Green Time (1995) for uilleann pipes, flute and tape was the reason for the Netherlands Wind Ensemble to invite composer Roger Doyle to create an evening-long programme of music together. This programme was developed through close collaboration between the composer, the electronic studio STEIM, the Irish musicians Sarah Grealish and Brian Ó hUiginn and the NBE. It was performed four times in October 1999.
This CD contains the unedited live recording of the concert given in the Nieuwe Kerk (New Church) in The Hague on the 10th October 1999.
